The upcoming anime adaptation of Hitozuma no Kuchibiru wa Kan Chūhai no Aji ga Shite (translated as Chuhai Lips: Canned Flavor of Married Women) is set to premiere in July 2025.
This series, based on the manga by Chinjao Musume and illustrated by Tama Nogami, has garnered attention for its unique blend of romantic and mature themes.
The anime will be produced by Raiose studio under the Deregula label, known for its focus on adult-themed content. Hajime Keima is directing and writing the series, with character designs by Yoriko Karei.
The story follows Tsuyoshi, a college student who finds himself entangled in relationships with various married women, each encounter often initiated over a can of chuhai—a popular Japanese alcoholic beverage.
The series will feature two versions: a standard TV broadcast and a “Deregula Edition,” which may contain more explicit content. In the standard version, Takahide Ishii voices Tsuyoshi, while Shiho Kawaragi portrays Yui Koriyama.
The Deregula Edition will have different voice actors, Men Kaidou and Miyu Anno, for the same roles. This dual-version approach allows the series to cater to different audience preferences.
The original manga has been serialized on Kodansha’s YanMaga Web since February 2021 and has released 22 digital volumes and three print volumes as of May 2025.
With over 1.2 million copies in circulation by November 2024, the series has built a substantial fanbase. The anime adaptation is highly anticipated, promising to bring the manga’s provocative storytelling to a broader audience.
For fans interested in mature romantic narratives, Chuhai Lips: Canned Flavor of Married Women offers a distinctive exploration of complex relationships, set against the backdrop of everyday life and the allure of chuhai.
