The internet loves cats, and you can say the same thing with the majority of Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans.
In this article, we decided to find out which ones are the best cat villagers in the game.
There are a total of 23 cats in New Horizons, so it’s not that easy of a task, but cats have not gotten our tongues, and we’re ready to dish out which ones of these felines are the best.
10. Katt
Personality: Big Sister
Catchphrase: purrty
Katt is definitely one cool kitty, with her uneven yellow stripes, obvious fangs, and black Old School Jacket with a red shirt.
She is a cat you don’t want to mess with, and for that, she gets the 10th spot of our list.
Like a lot of Big Sisters, Katt might look tough and won’t hesitate to be blunt about things, but behind that strict persona is a caring Big Sister cat. That’s purrty kind of you, Katt!
9. Kabuki
Personality: Cranky
Catchphrase: Meooo-OH
His name, face marks, and outfit are all based on traditional Japanese plays called kabuki.
A lot of Animal Crossing players love to turn their islands into a Japanese paradise, so if your island is Japanese-themed, Kabuki is definitely a villager you should invite.
His face marks resemble a kabuki mask, and his default outfit is called a Kabuki Actor Yukata.
His catchphrase is reminiscent of the “Oohh” sound in kabuki plays that accompany a drum sound effect. You’re a star at number nine, Kabuki!
8. Kiki
Personality: Normal
Catchphrase: Kitty cat
Who says black cats are unlucky? Kiki has been in all of the Animal Crossing games, from the first ever game Doubutsu no Mori back in 2001 to New Horizons in 2020.
I’d say that’s one lucky streak!
Her English name seems to be a reference to the Ghibli movie Kiki’s Delivery Service, where the main character, a witch named Kiki, has a black cat companion named Jiji.
For witchy ACNH fans out there, Kiki is your cat!
7. Punchy
Personality: Lazy
Catchphrase: Mrmpht
As seen from his expression, Punchy likes to coast through life slowly and comfortably. His easy-going Lazy personality is a cute charm for a cat like him.
His cat fur is pretty unique, especially on his head, since it’s horizontally divided into blue and white areas.
The tips of his paws and tails also have that division, with tiny yellow strips in between.
6. Rosie
Personality: Peppy
Catchphrase: silly
Rosie has also been in all of the Animal Crossing games so far, so she has dedicated fans who had her in their old Animal Crossing games.
She is also featured in the Animal Crossing movie called Animal Forest: The Movie and is a friend of the main character Ai. Rosie gets the 6th spot on our list for being bestie material!
5. Tangy
Personality: Peppy
Catchphrase: ReeeeOWR
You can describe Tangy in two words: orange cat. Not only does she have orange fur, her design is a literal orange!
Her unique character design is cited as one of the reasons why a lot of fans love her.
She has also appeared in all Animal Crossing games to date, so it’s no surprise that a lot of veteran Animal Crossing fans know and love her.
4. Lolly
Personality: Normal
Catchphrase: Bonbon
Meet the sweetest cat in our list – Lolly! Her name, which comes from lollipop, and catchphrase, which is French for candy, are both candy-themed and equally as sweet as her.
She also has a Normal personality, which is the personality in the game that is sweet, delightful, and always so pleasant to the player and her neighbors.
3. Ankha
Personality: Snooty
Catchphrase: Me meow
The Egyptians revered cats, and it seems like a lot of Animal Crossing fans do, too, when it comes to Ankha.
She is a Snooty cat villager with an Egyptian theme, with a name that is based on the hieroglyphic symbol that means symbol of life.
With her unique theme and character design, this makes her a standout cat who deserves the number three spot on our list.
2. Bob
Personality: Lazy
Catchphrase: Pthhpth
His Lazy personality shines through his expression. Bob is a Lazy cat villager who is actually confirmed to be the first-ever villager created for the Animal Crossing games.
Because of this, the creators made his birthday January 1st.
He has all the classic cat elements, from his bobcat name, “spitting out a hairball” catchphrase, to his catnap-loving personality. Bob is a classic!
1. Raymond
Personality: Smug
Catchphrase: Crisp
Anyone who has been in Animal Crossing communities knows that Raymond absolutely tops most, if not all, cat villager listicles.
This Smug cat’s popularity is insane, and it’s not a far-fetched thing because his character design – with his heterochromia and business-themed house and outfit – is pretty unique.
We’ve also chosen him as the top cat in our list because of what he has done for the community.
Not only has he brought joy to a lot of players for being their new favorite villager, the memes and jokes about his popularity have bonded all ACNH fans.
You’ve earned this one, Raymond!
