What Is Star Metal in Conan Exiles?
Star metal is a high-end material that is needed in order to craft some of the higher-tier weapons and gear. This resource is found in one of the most inhospitable and hostile regions of the map.
Star metal comes from meteorites that fall from the sky. Star metal is usually pretty easy to spot as when it lands, it has a particular glow to it, unlike most other elements in Conan Exiles.
How Do You Mine Star Metal?
If you see the smoke of a recent meteor strike, one thing you should know, you can’t just walk up and mine it. You’ll have to break the exterior stone shell in order to get the goods that lies inside.
You can do this in a few different ways. Mainly through the use of explosives. Here’s a list of some of the explosives that you can use to get inside the shell of a meteorite.
It’s worth noting that it may take more than one explosion to open up the rock depending on what type of explosive you use.

- Explosive arrows
- Demon Fire Orb (With Oil)
Where Can You Get Star Metal in Conan Exiles?
While there are several locations where you can find star metal, there’s no guarantee that it will be at said location 100% of the time.
This is because players may need to wait for it to fall from the sky, as it comes down in meteor showers.
This is impossible to miss, as you’ll hear it smash down to the ground with an almighty thud! Also, you’ll see the smoke trail, which is very visible no matter where you stand.
That said, as I’m sure you are aware, large falling meteorites crashing into the ground can hurt!
These things can and will destroy player structures and kill almost anything it smashes into, so be careful and keep an eye on the sky. Here are some locations where you can find star metal.
As for where the best area of the map is for getting star metal, the western part of the snow biome is the only area on the Exiled Lands that will provide reliable star metal meteor strikes.
So as a general rule, head to the western part of the snow biome, and spend some time running around. You’ll find and see star metal around the area. That said, here are a few specific locations that you should visit when you are hunting for star metal.
- North of The Mounds of The Dead
- The Area Around Stargazer’s Crest
- The Frozen Slopes and the surrounding cliffs
- The Eyelet Lake
- The Outcast Camp
