What To Do With Weeds in Animal Crossing [Includes Recipes] [2024]

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is all about doing fun chores in a video game – yes, they’re chores, but they’re fun. One of these chores is maintaining your island’s grass growth.

Along with flowers, grass can overtake your island if not picked up every now and then.

But weeds aren’t all that bad. There are actually a lot of things you can do with it!

Ready your weed-uprooting hands, and let’s find out what to do with weeds in Animal Crossing.

Acnh Weeds FAQ

Before getting to the root of this article, let’s learn some general info on weeds first.

What Are Weeds?

Weeds are clumps of plants in the Animal Crossing games. They are essentially grass that can grow wild and cover every inch of your island if not maintained.

They don’t need any watering and can grow on their own.

Animal Crossing Weeds In Pocket

You can pick them up by pressing ‘y’ on your controller. They can be placed in your pocket or put in your storage. They stack up to 99.

Weeds change their appearance depending on the season. There are seven kinds of weeds according to the season: One for spring, one for summer, three for autumn, and two for winter.

They’re all essentially the same for crafting and cooking.

Where To Get Weeds?

You can get weeds from your own island. Leave them be for a few days, and they will quickly multiply on their own, which is a big problem for time travelers or people who haven’t checked their island in a long time.

Animal Crossing Picking Up Weeds

If you run out of weeds, you can go to any Mystery Islands and pick the grass there. You can replant them on your island.

What To Do With Weeds?

Here are some things you can do with weeds.

Use as Decoration

Animal Crossing Weeds In Farm

Weeds can definitely be used for decoration. If your island’s theme is a mysterious forest, you can take advantage of tall weeds to make your island look like nature has overtaken it.

You can also decorate your vegetable farm with some clumps of grass. There is even a Lawn Mower item that can go with your weed overgrowth.

Miles Achievement

Animal Crossing Greedy Weeder

Selling weeds to your Nook’s Cranny is actually an achievement on your Nook Miles+ app.

Tom Nook rewards you with Nook Miles for every grass milestone you get. Who says weeds won’t give you anything?

To see this achievement in the game, open your Nook Phone and go to the Nook Miles+ app.

Scroll down until you see the Greedy Weeder section. You will get Miles the more grass you sell.

Animal Crossing Opening Nook Miles App

For 50 clumps of weed, you get 300 Nook Miles. 200 weeds will give you 500 Miles. Selling 1,000 clumps will reward you with 1,000 Miles.

You get 2,000 Miles for 2,000 weeds, and a whopping 3,000 clumps will give you 3,000 Miles.

Not bad, don’t you think? You get to clean your island and earn some Miles in the process!

Use for Crafting

Animal Crossing Crafting Weeds

Clumps of weeds are actually pretty important in crafting. There are DIY recipes that can only be made with weeds, so if you want to make some of these items, make sure you don’t sell all of your grass!

Early in the game, your villagers will give you DIY recipes that require grass as a crafting material. These recipes range from clothing to furniture.

After the 2.0 Update, we can now cook with weeds, although there is only one cooking recipe that requires it.
