Since the release of the Netflix Witcher series, many fans have returned to the game but there are at least 15 others that are similar enough to enjoy.

Best Games Like the Witcher 3
The Witcher 2
Let’s ignore the mess that was the first Witcher game. Though it had a great storyline and is a decent introduction to the Witcher series, the combat system leaves a lot to be desired.
But that’s typically the same with any older RPG that was the first of its line.
One of the major reasons to play the prequels to The Witcher 3 is to further understand the characters and their backstories.
Some gamers are happy to jump straight into the most recent and evolved game, but others prefer the slow climb to greatness.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Mac, Linux, and Xbox 360.
Dragon Age: Origins
Again, ignoring the mess that was Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age: Origins is much more like The Witcher 2 and 3 than Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Origins shares a lot of the same combat techniques, and it also has a similar setting with a wide range of characters for your Warden to interact with.
It’s a classic game where your choices will affect the outcome that you have. Like The Witcher 3, you have to actively make decisions when traveling or talking to people.
These decisions mean that you could end up playing a very different game in each run through that you decide to do.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Mac, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
We’ve mentioned one, of course, we’re going to mention the other. Dragon Age: Inquisition is a beauty of an open-world game, with stunning character creation options, and enough dialogue choices to keep you coming back again and again for another playthrough.
Like The Witcher 3, you’ll need to perfect your chosen fighting style to take down some powerful enemies.
Dragon Age: Inquisition combines weapons and all kinds of magic for a range of truly hard-hitting attacks.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Fable Anniversary
Originally released in 2004, the remastered version of Fable was brought to life so that it could be played on newer platforms with better graphics.
Many gamers agree that Fable is up there with The Witcher 3 in terms of the best RPGs to come out of the Western world.
One of the more unique features of Fable is the system of morality. Everything you do, good or bad, will eventually affect your player’s appearance.
Do good things, and you look cleaner, healthier, just like everyone else. Do bad things and watch as you sprout horns and begin to lose any color in your skin.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War
For gamers who want their heartstrings to be tugged on, they might be a little disappointed with this rendition of Tolkien’s world.
One of a few different game choices in the Middle-Earth series from Monolith, Shadow of War focuses on world-building and combat above all else.
But, that’s not to say that Shadow of War isn’t an action-packed game! Lying very firmly in the hack-and-slash genre, this is a game that you can get your teeth into.
Keep training your character, try out a ton of new weapons, and parry the blows of Orcs with such ease that even Aragorn would be impressed.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Monster Hunter: World
Another one for the combat fanatics, Monster Hunter: World is the perfect game for anyone who preferred the monster-hunting side of The Witcher 3, rather than any of the other varying aspects of the game.
The multiplayer aspect of the game is extremely smooth, allowing players to team up and take down monsters of all shapes and sizes.
Even though the fundamentals of the game are great, it is the co-op features that allow Monster Hunter: World to outside the rest of the games in the Monster Hunter series.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Divinity: Original Sin 2
This is not a game that everyone will enjoy, but Divinity: Original Sin 2 does carry several similar characteristics to The Witcher 3.
New players may struggle with the game when they first start; however, there are plenty of guides across the internet to help with any issues you may have.
Mistakes are costly in the world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, but the game does remain fair throughout any playthrough.
The fights are tough, and it’s unlikely that you’ll win any of them without dying once or twice.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
The Assassin’s Creed series is, quite frankly, a superb selection of games. Each one brings new stories, new characters, and a new way of seeing the world to our gaming screens.
Several areas of Odyssey will feel familiar to any gamer who just finished The Witcher 3 and is looking for a new love.
The combat system is the first thing that a player will notice; the controls being very similar to the interface for The Witcher 3.
More than that, players will also find that the dialogue options in Odyssey and the third Witcher installment give a lot to the game.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Fallout 4
A story waiting to be uncovered – that’s what Fallout 4 is. The Fallout series has been around forever, with each new release bringing a different adventure, better graphics, and amazing storylines.
Fallout 4 is basically The Witcher 3 if the series took place in a futuristic post-apoc. Wasteland, rather than inside a fantasy-based medieval period. Give Gerald a gun, and hey presto!
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Be the star of your own Western-style story. Choose to be bad or good.
Whichever you choose, you’ll still get to be a cowboy shooting up the game’s world without a care for the characters around you.
RDR2 puts you at the center of the plot, whether you want to be a hero or not.
There are several elements of the game that are like The Witcher 3. The fact that your character needs to survive in the wildness, for one. And that the main storyline is just one part of the game, for another!
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
The fifth Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim, has often been the favorite of the series’ fans thanks to its adaptability.
There are so many downloadable mods available for this game now that people started creating new lands within the game.
Skyrim is almost always mentioned when open-world games are being discussed, and why not? It’s one of the classics, with more content than most know what to do with.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Like Skyrim? Like The Witcher series? Then Oblivion is certainly the next game on your list! Another amazing piece of the plot from the Elder Scrolls team, Oblivion, brings its own elements to the table.
It’s not just another Skyrim. There are a lot of differences that make both games enjoyable to play.
There are skills in Oblivion that don’t exist in the Skyrim universe. For example, Hand to Hand combat and Acrobatics.
You even have to sleep to level up! All in all, Oblivion brings a touch of the real world to the Elder Scrolls games.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Horizon Zero Dawn
A great game released at the wrong time. Unfortunately, Horizon Zero Dawn was released alongside a lot of other big-name games, which caused this PS4 exclusive to take a backseat.
The lore within the game is extremely coherent and easy to understand, while the combat system is new and inventive.
Though we’ve listed the platform for this game as PS4-only, there is the recent news that Horizon Zero Dawn might be coming to PC in the future.
Hopefully, the re-release will have better timing and bring more excitement for the game.
Platform: PlayStation 4.
Mass Effect 2
Dragon Age and Mass Effect typically go hand-in-hand for most gamers. If you’ve played one series, you’ve at least dabbled in the other.
Both came out of Bioware, which is watched like a hawk whenever there’s potential for a new game coming in the future.
If you like fantasy, guns, and enjoy knowing how your choices affect the outcome of a game, this is another series that is right up your alley!
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Final Fantasy XV
At the core of FFXV and The Witcher 3 lay fantastical open worlds just waiting for gamers to load and discover.
The characters in both games are diverse, incredible creations and each game allows you to play a skilled main character.
With magic, beautiful scenery, great combat, and awesome designs, it’s no wonder both games are enjoyed by so many.
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
