05 Jan Top 5 Best Minecraft Trident Enchantments
Minecraft‘s trident is a rather elusive weapon, given how it’s one of the few that can’t be crafted by the player.
However, its powerful selection of enchantments makes it more than worth seeking out, as it makes it a versatile weapon useful against a variety of the dangers that the world of Minecraft is apt to throw at you. Below, we’ve listed our five favorite enchantments that can be applied to the trident.

In a similar vein to the previous enchantment, this one, though not unique to the trident, plays the valuable role of extending its lifespan. The Mending enchantment uses collected XP to replenish the trident’s durability, rather than building the player’s experience.
This does delay the leveling-up process, but many consider it more than worth it to not have to persistently worry about checking the trident’s current state of repair.
Of course, the Unbreaking enchantment, which increases an item’s durability, is not one that’s unique to the trident. It can be applied to a great variety of weapons, tools, and armor. However, it’s especially useful with weapons like the trident, which can’t be crafted by the player.
Should your trident be worn down and destroyed, you’ll find yourself in the frustrating position of hoping that a new one drops soon. The Unbreakable enchantment does a great job at delaying this frustration.
This enchantment should be noted and can’t be used alongside Riptide, as they’re both based on throwing the trident.
With Channelling, throwing the trident at a mob causes them to be struck by lightning. Admittedly, this is dependent on there being a thunderstorm happening at the time (and on you being a good aim, of course), but still, used right, this can turn the tide of battle.
Not only does lightning deal serious damage, but the blazes it causes can wreak havoc on tightly-packed groups of enemies. And that’s to say nothing of the fact that it can help you create witches and charged creepers on command – a risky business, of course, but invaluable if you’re after their particular drops.
Building off the previous enchantment, Riptide is an enchantment that ensures that, when in water (or in the rain, or in snow), the trident becomes more than a mere weapon. With Riptide, throwing the trident launches the player with it.
You can surge forward instantly or leap up into the air, depending on where you throw. In other words, this enchantment essentially turns the trident into a nifty means of rapid transportation. Needless to say, this is tremendously handy in a game that emphasizes traversing huge distances as heavily as Minecraft does.
It really just feels natural to whip out the trident when you’re fighting enemies in the water. The Impaling enchantment was clearly made with this player mindset in mind. With this enchantment, the player will deal extra damage to enemies in water or in the rain (although, in Java Edition, this only applies to aquatic mobs).
