Best Mods for Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Our picks are mainly cosmetic, with some modified movesets and a few major overhauls.
25. McDonald’s Employee Isabelle
McDonald’s Employee Isabelle is a costume for the fighter model that resembles a typical shift uniform from McDonald’s.
Isabelle has finally found her true calling in life – being an employee at the McDonald’s across town. She is so excited and can’t wait to get started on all of the tasks that await underlings like herself!
She did an excellent job in her original game; she’ll also work hard to make your lunch perfect.
24. Portal Weighted Cubes
Portal fans rejoice!
There’s now a mod for Smash Ultimate that replaces the crates on stages like Big Blue and Corneria with the Weighted Cubes from Portal 1 and 2.
We all know the Companion Cube is Loved by All, so it’s only fitting that it should make an appearance in Smash. And what better way to show off your Portal fandom than to toss the cube in Smash?
Now you can relive those cherished memories of carrying your Companion Cube through test chambers, solving puzzles, and trusting it with your life… all while smacking around your opponents in Smash!
Just be careful not to drop it… we wouldn’t want to see anything bad happen to our little friend.
23. Jinx Fighter Model
For fans of both the Super Smash Bros. series and League of Legends, there’s now a perfect crossover mod available for Smash Ultimate.
The mod replaces Zero Suit Samus with a custom model of Jinx from League of Legends and the Arcane series on Netflix. This particular model is from Wild Rift.
Not only does Jinx look great in the game, but she also comes with better UI and new voice files that are sure to please fans of both franchises.
Her playful pop-punk edge and bright colors are right at home in the wacky world of Smash Bros.
22. Skull Kid Over Ness
Have you ever wanted to play as Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate?
Well, now you can!
This mod replaces the Ness model with a custom Skull Kid model. And he looks great!
He’s got all the moves of Ness, plus some extra ones inspired by his beloved game. He’s also got a new final smash move where he summons the iconic moon from Majora’s Mask, unnerving smile and all.
If you’re a fan of Majora’s Mask or want to try something different in Smash Ultimate, check out this mod!
21. Emoji Kirby Alts
Emoji Kirby Alts adds four new emoji-inspired alternate appearances for Kirby.
It’s executed well. The modder has captured the essence of each emoji in Kirby form. I like the purple devil face and cry-laugh Kirby. They add a lot of personality to the game.
This is an excellent mod for Kirby fans, of which there are many.
20. Cowboy Bebop Ost
This mod adds the music from Cowboy Bebop anime’s original soundtrack into Smash Ultimate to use during battles.
Cowboy Bebop is one of the most iconic anime of all time, and its popularity has only grown in recent years. The show’s unique blend of jazz, Western, and science fiction elements has made it a favorite among fans of all ages.
The exciting, expressive tracks fit right in with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate; fans can enjoy the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack while they battle it out with their friends.
The mod, which is currently available for download, features tracks from the anime, including the iconic opening theme “Tank!” and the show’s hits “Cats on Mars” and “Too Good Too Bad.”
With this mod, players can now experience the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack in all its glory while they play one of the most popular video games of all time. Thanks to this mod, fans can now enjoy the best of both worlds.
19. Banjo-kazooie Extended Tracklist
This mod adds the missing songs from Banjo-Kazooie to Smash Ultimate.
When they were added to Smash, Banjo and Kazooie had many of their songs added; unfortunately, a few were missing. In addition to the missing songs, there are new custom loops to enjoy while playing Smash.
This mod adds Clanker’s Cavern, Bubble Gloop Swamp, Freezeezy Peak, Click Clock Wood, the Final Battle track, and our favorite, Rusty Bucket Bay.
Can we get a Banjo-Threeie, please? No, none of the spiritual successors or racing games count.
18. Kiri’s Quite Excessive Music Mod
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate allows fans of the series to play as all of their favorite characters from across the gaming universe. However, each character did not bring all of their series’ music with them.
While some of the franchises’ most iconic tunes were included, many players felt that the selection was lacking.
Kiri’s Music Mod aims to fix this issue by adding a massive amount of songs from a wide variety of different video game series.
Persona, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Xenoblade, and Fire Emblem are just a few of the many franchises represented in the mod.
In total, there are over 100 songs to choose from, giving players an incredible amount of listening options.
17. Yoshi Moveset Edits
Yoshi Moveset makes several changes to Yoshi’s moveset, including improvements to his frame data, knockback, and damage output.
These changes aim to make Yoshi more viable in competitive play while still keeping his unique flavor intact.
Yoshi is one of the most beloved characters in Super Smash Bros., beginning with the very first game. His moveset is iconic, and he has a variety of interesting abilities that make him fun to play as. Eggs anyone?
However, some players feel that Yoshi isn’t quite as competitive or polished as he could be in Ultimate.
What’s your favorite Yoshi appearance? We loved Yoshi’s Island.
16. The Aether
The Aether stage is a reskin of the savanna biome that looks like The Aether from Minecraft.
The Aether is a popular dimension in the game Minecraft, known for its unique floating islands and bright, cheerful atmosphere. Now, thanks to a mod for Smash Ultimate, players can enjoy the Aether in all its glory… reskinned as a battle stage!
The stage still features the familiar savanna biome terrain but with a lovely Aether-themed makeover. Whether you’re a die-hard Minecraft fan or just looking for a change of pace, this mod is sure to add some fun and excitement to your next Smash session!
15. Kazuya: Finale Devil
This mod reskins Kazuya from Tekken 7 with his fearsome Final Devil appearance, complete with red eyes and sharp horns. When fighting games collide, players are in for a memorable experience.
Do you love the Tekken series but always wish you could play as Kazuya’s most powerful form in Super Smash Bros.? Well, now you can with this mod for Smash Ultimate! He brings a much-needed air of darkness, power, and demon-ry that is sorely lacking.
14. Hat Kid Classic Mode Route
With Hat Kid Classic Mode Route, you can add a playable Hat Kid route to Classic Mode! Move over Super Mario Odyssey; there are other headgear-powered heroes out there.
This adorable time-traveling protagonist from A Hat in Time brings her unique brand of platforming action and toon-ish charm to the Smash Ultimate stage, and you’ll be able to take on all comers alongside this lovable troublemaker.
So jump into the fray and show everyone that it’s not just about winning – it’s about having a good time too!
13. Wario Moveset Edits
These edits for Wario’s Moveset aim for balance and more satisfying gameplay.
Anyone who’s played Smash knows that Wario is a unique fighter. His odd moveset and quirky animations set him apart from the rest of the roster. However, many players find him to be unsatisfying to play as due to his lack of range and poor recovery.
That’s why we were excited to try out a customized alternate moveset for Wario. The mod features balance changes for his neutral, aerials, regular hits, and smash attacks. These changes make him better to play as, without making him overpowered.
If you’re looking for a way to make Wario more fun to play as we highly recommend checking out this mod.
12. Gabriel Belmont
This mod reskins Simon Belmont to look like his grandfather, Gabriel Belmont. (aka Dracula.)
Some people might say that reskinning Simon Belmont to look like his grandfather, Gabriel Belmont, from the Castlevania series is a bit of a stretch. After all, the two characters don’t have much in common beyond their shared heritage… and one is evil.
However, we love this mod! It gives Simon a whole new level of badassery. And who doesn’t love a good dose of badassery? It’s sure to please fans of both the Castlevania series and Simon mains in Smash!
With how packed the Ultimate roster is, many fighters could afford to stand out more.
11. Absurd Classic Mode Pack
Absurd Pack for Classic Mode features new routes with absurd, wacky, and mismatched combinations of bosses, stages, and songs that will keep you entertained for hours on end. This fresh Classic Mode mod for Smash Ultimate is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
King K Rool teaming up with Donkey Kong and Rathalos? Sure, why not?
The best part is that you can customize your own route, making it as easy or difficult, wacky or ordinary, as you want. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a casual player, this mod will give you a unique experience.
So what are you waiting for? Grab the mod and see for yourself!
10. Team Aqua Stadium
Team Aqua Stadium is a custom battle stage designed after the villainous Team Aqua from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
The stage, which features the legendary water-type Pokémon Kyogre, is sure to be a hit with fans of the series. In addition to Kyogre, the stage also includes ambient rainy weather effects and a thalassic background.
So if you’re a fan of Pokémon or Smash Bros., be sure to check out this mod! You won’t be disappointed.
This stage is designed to go over the existing Battlefield map.
9. Zelda Moveset Edits
Edits for Zelda’s Moveset overhauls Zelda’s moveset to make her a more viable contender in high-level play.
Zelda’s place in the Smash community has varied over the years and games, but recently she’s settled in a less-than-great spot.
The changes are extensive and well-tested, so you can be confident that they won’t throw off your game.
Whether you’re a competitive player looking to take your game to the next level, or just a casual fan who wants to see Zelda reach her full potential, this mod is definitely worth checking out!
8. Super Sans Bros Ultimate Modpack
Introducing the Sans mod for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
Super Sans Bros changes every texture for each playable fighter to look like Sans the Skeleton from the game UNDERTALE.
That’s right, now you can play as your favorite underground skeleton heartthrob, as any other fighter, in the biggest fighting game around. This mod is sure to add a bit of levity to your next Smash session.
Although he may not be the most powerful fighter in the game, Sans is sure to give you a good time. The creator put in extra effort to craft unique portrait images for each character, too.
So download the Sans mod today and add a little bit of flavor to your next Smash Bros match.
7. Pokémon Rpg
Pokémon RPG adds 24 new playable Pokémon trainer models, each with their own custom alternative Pokémon to fight with.
You’ll be able to choose from classic trainers like Ash Ketchum and Misty or more modern characters like Sword and Shield’s Nessa. And, of course, no trainer is complete without their signature Pokémon by their side.
So whether you’re a fan of Pikachu or Swampert, you’re sure to find a perfect partner in this mod.
So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and get ready for some Poké-smashing action!
6. Boss Battles in Classic Mode
Boss Battles Mod changes every fighter’s Classic Mode route into a boss rush.
Attention, all players looking for a new challenge in Smash Ultimate, this mod is definitely for you!
Boss Battles mode was a popular mode in Brawl, and now you can enjoy a similar experience with every fighter in Classic Mode. Instead of the usual sequence of fights, you’ll face off against a series of bosses, one after the other.
Each boss will be more challenging than the last, so you’ll need to be at the top of your game to make it through.
If you’re up for the challenge, this mod will provide hours of fun. So build up your stamina and get ready for some intense boss battles!
5. Dive to the Heart Disney Restoration
Dive to the Heart Disney Restoration returns Disney characters like Mickey, Donald, and Goofy to their spots on the stained glass on the Hollow Bastion Stage.
Since its debut in 2002, Kingdom Hearts has been captivating the hearts of players all over the world.
Part of what makes the game so special is its unique blend of Disney and Square Enix characters and worlds.
The juxtaposition of classic Disney heroes like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck with Final Fantasy staples like Cloud and Sephiroth is one of the series’ most charming features.
Nintendo’s decision (maybe unwilling) to remove Donald, Goofy, and Mickey from the Dive to Heart portions of Hollow Bastion leaves the stage feeling, well, hollow. This mod restores designs to their proper form.
4. Funky Kong Pack
This Funky Kong Pack replaces all of Donkey Kong’s alternative appearances with different versions of the super cool relative, Funky Kong.
Not sure if you’ve noticed, but Donkey Kong has been looking a little bit different lately. In fact, all of his alternative appearances have been replaced with different versions of Funky Kong!
This hilarious mod for Smash Ultimate is sure to get a few laughs from your friends (or enemies) the next time you play.
And who knows, maybe Funky Kong will become the new face of the DK franchise! Regardless, this mod is sure to add some extra fun to your next Smash session. Thanks, Funky Kong!
3. Tilted Towers
This mod replaces the Moray Towers battle stage with a reskin that resembles Tilted Towers from Fortnite.
For gamers who have ever dreamt of settling their differences in Tilted Towers, there’s now a mod for that.
That’s right, Fortnite fans can now battle it out on a faithful-ish recreation of the famous battle royale locale, complete with familiar features and landmarks.
Whether you’re looking for a new challenge or just want to see Tilted Towers in all its glory, be sure to check out this mod. Just try not to get too tilted at these towers.
2. Tr4sh Rebuffed S
TR4SH Rebuffed S overhauls Smash Ultimate by combining TR4SH and Smash Rebuffed.
TR4SH Rebuffed is a fresh new way to experience Smash Ultimate.
This mod pack is a collaboration between two top Smash Ultimate mods, and it takes the best from both of their previous modpacks.
The result is a fast, combo-based gameplay experience with plenty of crazy gimmicks thrown in for good measure. So if you’re looking for a new challenge or just want to mix things up a bit, be sure to check it out.
1. Ultimate S
Ultimate S is a wildly popular and massive overhaul with new moves, tech, and full-character reworks.
The changes to the characters are in response to community feedback, and they come with a fresh coat of paint that looks amazing.
The new moves and tech add a whole new level of depth to the game, and the character reworks make it feel like a whole new experience. The battle stages weren’t left out; many of them received reworks with more on the way from the creators.
This is definitely a must-have mod for anyone who wants to keep their smash game fresh.
